What You Need to Become A Local Pro Landscaper
Please ensure that you have all the necessary requirements to make your application as streamlined as possible.
Approval can take as little as 24 hours once all documents have been received and verified.
1 Local Pro Mobile App
- Download the app where you can sign up to become a Pro Xtra member if you aren’t one already. You need a Pro Xtra account in order to become a Local Pro
- Once you’ve downloaded the app, select “Apply for Local Pro” to start the process of receiving leads.
2 Required Documents
- Insurance coverage ($1 million minimum)
- WSIB/WCB/NEST coverage (if applicable)
3 Background Check
- All background screening is performed through Entuitive Compliance
- $65 annual fee, renewed each year. (Valid Canadian credit card required)

- There is no cost to become a Local Pro or to remain with the program. However, you will need to complete an annual background check, which costs $65 to complete. Your compliance records then remain on file. If you’re non-compliant, you will not receive leads.

- Since landscaping services do not require a trade licence, you will not need one to become a landscaping Local Pro.
- All Local Pros are required to show proof of insurance coverage ($1 million minimum), as well as WSIB/WCB/NEST coverage where applicable, upon applying to the program.
- All Local Pros are required to complete and pass a background check, which must be renewed annually in order to remain in the program.

- Pros who have signed up for multiple services will not need to complete more than one background check. It does, however, need to be renewed annually.

- As a Pro Xtra member, you earn credits every time you shop at The Home Depot, in store or online. These points allow you to continue to generate leads for new jobs.
- At any time, you can choose to stop receiving leads (or resume if you have stopped) if you wish to save your credits for another time.

- You can add as many landscaping services as you like, as long as you are qualified and available to provide them.

- As long as you’ve completed your background check and meet the relevant professional requirements, you can sign up as a Local Pro for up to 2 occupations.

How Local Pro Connects You to Customers
1 Customers Submit Leads
- Home Depot customers looking for landscaping services (such as lawn care, driveway paving or garden bed installation) submit a request and provide their contact information to receive a quote online.
2 We Match 3 Pros to the Customer
- The customer is matched with up to 3 landscaping Pros in their area who are available for the job requested.
- The Pros will receive the lead in-app and can contact the customer to provide a quote.
3 Customer Accepts the Preferred Quote
- After the Pros have contacted the customer, the customer compares quotes, reviews, overall fit, and chooses their preferred option.
4 After the Job is Complete
- Your earnings are yours to keep!
